"The 2021 growing season started after a second dry winter in a row with some spring rains that helped the vineyards develop healthy canopies. The yields were low with smaller berries and clusters which created a unique vintage with great concentration and structure, refined tannins and great acidity - a true age worthy vintage. The 2021 Black Diamond Reserve 'Monument' is inky in color with expressive aromatics of licorice, violets and fresh plums on the palate. It is full-bodied with a hint of sweetness and fine grain tannins. Flavors of black currant, blackberries and boysenberries are balanced with great acidity and freshness. The wine is juicy with a long structured finish. This is a great showcase of the vintage and the beauty of Napa Valley producing wine that is already expressive and showing well, but also has everything needed to age gracefully for 15+ years."
