Winemaker Philippe Melka's Tasting Notes
"The 2019 Prima is opening up in the glass with layers of cigar box, violets, creme de cassis, dark plums and a hint of French oak spices. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, dark in tone and layered with graphite, forest floor and a hint of sweetness. A great example of the 2019 vintage, showing complexity, great acidity and an enjoyable profile now. A structured wine that can age for the next 15+ years."

"There are 262 cases of the stunning 2019 Black Diamond Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon Prima, a blend from two famous vineyards. There's a rich, earthy element and hints of licorice, and both lend nuances to the ripe cassis fruit in this full-bodied effort, which comes across as densly concentrated yet supple and silky. The elegant, lively finish lingers, framed by soft tannins. Approachable now, yet with the stuffing to last at least a decade, it's a lovely Cabernet that really expresses its (largely) Rutherford origins."

"The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Black Diamond Reserve Prima is outstanding, with a darker, almost reductive style in its black fruits, truffly earth, chocolate and tobacco-driven aromatics. It opens up nicely with time in the glass and is full-bodied, has a great mid-palate, ripe tannins, and a great finish. It's a terrific bottle of wine that should deliver the goods over the coming 10-15 years."

"A full-bodied and juicy red, full of chocolate, blackberries, black walnuts and sandalwood. Densely packed and juicy on the palate, though the smoky wood and chewy tannins will take some time to integrate into the wine. Long, chocolatey finish. Drink from 2024."
