2018 Parallel Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (750mL)

Winemaker Philippe Melka's Tasting Notes

"The 2018 Parallel Cabernet has powerful aromatics imbued with a great deal of energy. Explosive aromas of holiday spices, cardamon, coffee beans and black currant. The palate is full-bodied, very refined with present tannins front to back giving the wine a very silky texture and layers of complexity. It shows dark plums, cranberries and cherries with a beautiful tension between red and black fruits, a savory note and excellent acidity making the finish super balanced and long. 2018 is a great vintage in Napa Valley and this wine is a great example already. The wine is drinking very well now and will improve over the next 10+ years."

93 Points - Wine Advocate

"The 2018 Cabernet Sauivgon has a deep garnet-purple color and intense notes of crushed black currants, black cherries and mulberries with nuances of Baker's Chocolate, licorice, cedar chest and pencil with a waft of wild sage. The full-bodied palate offers a decadent array of black fruit and savory layers, supported by firm grainy tannins and plenty of freshness, finishing on a lingering mineral note. Drink Date 2022-2038."

92 Points - Wine Enthusiast

"Thick, savory and dusty in tannin, this overtly ripe, concentrated wine is elusive in fruit, preferring to coax oak tones and pencil shavings from its core. Sage, cedar and dried herb weigh in, with a rich finishing touch of dark chocolate."

91 Points - James Suckling

"Aromas of blackcurrants, coffee, dried herbs and lavender. It’s medium-bodied and flavorful with firm, fine-grained tannins. Better from 2022."

one of the best wines I have tasted this year. all of the reviews talk about the taste of black cherries and licorice. I totally agree and these are two of my favorite flavors. I would suggest keeping it in the cellar for a few more years to really get it to peak.
